Meralgia: You describe a common problem due to compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve at the hip, which seems manifest at a distance.  This is called meralgia paresthetica, and may be associated with tight objects around the waist and hip. Unlikely, but possible is nerve problem from lower back. Contact your doctor and get this addressed.

Back problem: It could be a trapped nerve from a bulging disk in your back. Could be a too tight muscle as well. See your doctor for an evaluation. Physical therapy may help, and i know acupuncture will.

Numbness: your description is of the 5th lumbar dermatome---do you have lower back problems?   If you do have your doctor do an MRI   back problems can give you pain and numbness in the lower extremities

Popliteal fossa: The area behind the knee is called the popliteal fossa and the nerve supplying the foot (sciatic) is right there. Sometimes people develop a cyst in the knee that can protrude in the back of the knee and compress the sciatic nerve branches. You should get evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon who can get an MRI and advise. The nerve symptoms deserve prompt attention. Good luck
