Hard to know: If you are very concerned, you should see a doctor.  You can ask for a drug screening test (to see if there is something else in  your system besides marijuana).  If it was laced with something, finding out what it was will be helpful in determining how long the effects will last.

Your brain: Weed is a mind altering drug and just because it may be legal does not make it harmless. If you have tonsillitis you should be tested to see if it is strep throat and treated accordingly.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Moral judgment: Bad is a moral judgment and i refrain from those.  Can it ruin your life is fact and the answer to that is yes.  There is no safe way to use a street drug.  You are always at risk of side-effects, arrest, damage to your brain, depression, anxiety, decreased motivation with cannabis use.  Marijuana of this era is about 20 times more potent than it was in the 60's and with it comes significant risk.

But, daily or obsessive use can really dull one's human experience and lead to other addictive diseases or behaviors. The jury is out on the damage the 'fire' in smoking can cause. It is well documented in nicotine smoking.  The anti-inflammatory properties of mj may protect some against the smoke damag.
