May be : You are probably allergic to class of medications called narcotics and Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) and Dilaudid are from the same family try non steroidal as Motrin advil or tram afoul ultramodern.

Depends: On many factors, including whether morphine is given by injection or by mouth, or whether in a long-acting or immediate-release short-acting form. In general, by mouth they are equipotent - 5 mg hydrocodone is equivalent to 5 mg morphine. If given by injection, it is about 1.7 mg morphine (about 3 times more potent) to 5 mg. Also depends onhow well liver and kidneys are working in some cases.

Narcotic bowel: You have serious narcotic-induced constipation from the morphine. I see this a lot and usually add magnesium citrate to what you're already taking. It's pretty strong and should work.

Great Questions: 50mcg is roughly equivalent to 120 mg a day of morphine.  However, when switching most doctors will reduce by 50% because of incomplete cross tolerance.

Urinary retention: One of the known side effect of narcotics, including morphine, is bladder dysfunction or urinary retention.
The mechanism of urinary retention is still not completely understood. It's more common with morphine given by epidural route, but can happen with intravenous or oral morphine as well.
Please discuss medication change with your doctor if you continues to experience urinary retention.

Funny?: Taking narcotics for fun can be a life threatening activity.  I suggest that you go to the er or an urgent care center.  There are medications that can reverse the effects of the morphine.

Cross reactivity: Certain antibiotics can cause false positive opiate results on urine drug screens.  Although most urine drug screens are now more sensitive, eating poppy seeds has been also known to cause this.
