No: I don't think there is one. There are several prescription nose sprays including astelin, atrovent and patanase. Have you tried Claritin or zyrtec or allegra? Nasal saline spray may help simply by flushing out the allergens. You could also try an older sedating antihistamine such as chlorpheniramine or benadryl (diphenhydramine). They may dry you up more than the newer non sedating antihistamines.

Allergies?: Neti pots can 
reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot. Tilt head ; pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly ; spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side. This can be done in the evening before you go to bed ; again in A.M. Get checked for allergies if this doesn't help.

Headache: Sudden onset of severe headache always concerning for aneurysm. Incidence of aneurysm highest in 40 to 60 year old category.  Smoking and HTN common underlying risk factors in people susceptible to the problem. Conditions more associated with Poly Cystic Kidney disease, Marfan Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos.  Family history is important and life stressors such as financial and legal troubles are factor.

Allergies or cold.: Usually a runny nose is indicative of allergies of a cold. For the former, you could also have headache, facial pains, earache, and scratchy throat.  For the latter, you could be achy and feverish.

Cold? Allergy?: Sounds like a typical cold, or maybe allergy. Over the counter treatments might help. Or just sit tight and wait for your symptoms to clear up. This doesn't sound serious at all.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. There are effective treatments for allergy and some of your symptoms may be due to allergy.

Yes: I give a list of medications that are safe to take during pregnancy for a variety of conditions.  In general it is relatively safe to use pseudophed, tylenol (acetaminophen) cold, benedry, afrin or neosynephrine nasal spray and plain robitussin.  However, not knowing your other health problems this is just a general list.

Ask your doctor: This may be normal but you really should discuss with your surgeon.

Accepted Answer

Not that we know of: Uncontrolled rhinitis (nose allergy) doesn't affect growth  as much as uncontrolled asthma, ultimate height is a complex function of the body, with several systems involved, unlikely that isolated nose allergy would affect it.

my granddaughter is 21 months old and had tubes put in her ears. she also had the adenoids removed. is drooling common? her nose is running constantly

Accepted Answer

Allergies?: Allergies can cause drooling and a runny nose.  Be sure there are no fragrances or aerosols being used in her environment (all of which exacerbate or cause allergies).  Go with her to her next appt, if okay with parents, and see what the doc says about this. No scented soaps, detergents, candles and no fabric softeners.  This goes for the people that hug her too!
