Periods/Plan B: Taking emergency contraception is quite likely to throw your periods off for a month - that's exactly how they work. If you had 5 days of bleeding shortly after the pill use, this sounds very normal and means you should not be or become pregnant. GIve it a couple of more weeks until your normal period would have been due and then if you have concern yet, take a home pregnancy test - but unlikely.

Take a test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Usually: If your me serial cycles are regular (coming every 28-30 days) but sometimes they are heavier than others, the likelihood of pregnancy is low. You can always just take a home pregnancy test to reassure yourself.

It : It sounds like your pregnancy is very, very early if your beta HCG is 12.  An ultrasound will help determine the exact dating.  An ultrasound usually shows a sac/fetus at about 4-6 weeks.  If you had spotting or pain then also please be sure to have an ultrasound.
