Prolactin levels: A low prolactin level may be caused by excessive bleeding at the time of delivery which affected or damaged your anterior pituitary gland. This phenomenon is known as Sheehan's syndrome. Your thyroid may also be affected.See your gynecologist or a gynecological endocrinologist for help

May need treatment: This child is at the 3rd %ile in height and his GH testing shows possible GH deficiency since his peak GH should be &gt;7 and his is only 4.0.  However, GH testing is not always reliable so a decision on treatment should consider if his growth has been normal over the past 2 years or slow.  Also would help to know if his IGF-1, a good screening test for GH deficiency, is low. Ask his endocrinologist.

Growth hormone: There are no dietary stimulants for growth hormone production. Optimal nutrition will allow a child to reach his/her genetically determined stature. Adding extra growth hormone will not increase that stature, but only accelerate the rate of attaining that stature.

Probably: Growth hormone determinations are of limited value, particularly in someone nearing the end of puberty. Igf-1 levels or stimulated growth hormone would be better, but only if there were some indication for the testing. Why did you have the level draw in the first place. It's really probably too late to consider therapy but check bone age to determine that.

The symptoms you describe are general, not specific for growth hormone, but could relate to hormone deficiencies.  See your family doctor and consider testing other endocrine functions like cortisone, thyroid and prolactin.
