Carotid: It is not necessarily abnormal. Some people have prominent carotid pulses and that is usually the case. If it is really large when someone examines it, there is a small chance of a carotid artery aneurysm, but that is not common.

is it normal to not be able to feel your carotid pulse?

Accepted Answer

No, but---: You should be able to feel your carotid pulses on each side of your neck.  If you are just finding that the pulse is not there, you must be seen tonight in an Emergency Room.  If this is an old problem, then you may be seen by your doctor in the AM---do not take chances.

Probably normal. but: Ur doc can easily tell one from the other, usually by doing no more than a careful physical exam. Good luck.

Carotid Artery: You should see a Vascular Surgeon immediately to have your carotids evaluated.   A swishing sound or large pulsation is sometimes  heard when carotid artery disease is present.   One of the most common causes of stroke is carotid stenosis.Your Vascular Surgeon can offer the latest technology and methods to address any potential arterial problems.

Sound in ears: what you describe is a very common complaint. My concern thoug is to be sure your blood pressure has been checked .

i am 19, under stress.  is it normal to get fast twitching, pulsing sensation between chin and the carotid artery?

Yes: Stress can mimic anything and may cause any symptoms.TrBIOFEEDBACK:  Avoid drugs for sleep, weight loss, nervousness, anxiety and wait gain. Usually try behavior modification, punctuality in sleeping, read a book and warm milk if u like. Avoid caffeine, drinking, TV in room. Do regular exercise and get busy with ur studies or work. Don’t dx yourself.

i am a 27 year old female, 140 lbs with a slim neck and can see my right neck vein pulsing (not my left) anytime i lie down. my echo, carotid ultrasound and ecg were normal. should i run more tests?

: The carotid artery is a large artery &amp; I'm sure that's what you see pulsating. A normal carotid ultrasound is very reassuring. I assume you don't have high blood pressure which could accentuate carotid artery pulsations.  If you still have concerns, consult a vascular surgeon.

Pulsation: Pulsation are often normally seen in the neck.discomfort if persistent needs to be formally evaluated.

26 yo healthy f. strong visible carotid pulses b/l with heartbeat 100% of time. good exercise tolerance. no htn. no other sx. why? should i worry?

Since you are fit it: is likely you are fairly thin so your vessels in your neck are more visible. Nothing to worry about. Keep up the healthy life style!
