Sensitive/resistant: The bacteria tested is susceptible to the antibiotic, norfloxacin but resistAnt to nitrofurantoin  (Macrobid).

Resistant germ: If you are not getting better from a course of antibiotics- this likely means the germ is 'resistant' and you need a different antibiotic altogether. You would benefit from a urinary culture - and from there a doctor could help guide you. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics can lose their power - particularly where they are not regulated well. Try to see a doctor today for that evaluation and treatment.

It is obvious: You have seen a doctor regarding this so i would recommend contacting him/her for the results of a stool culture for specific treatment.  There is no point guessing when you can access the answer.  Keep very well hydrated with non-caffeinated, non-dairy and non-alcoholic fluids.

Should be: Norfloxacin is generally safe in patients with liver disease of all causes, including fatty liver, however i would discuss with your prescribing doctor if you notice any side effects or symptoms from this medication as all medicines have slightly different effects in different people.

Fluoroquinolones: Norfloxacin has been reported to cross the blood-placenta and blood-milk barrier, and is extensively distributed into the fetal tissues. Fluoroquinolones are contraindicated during pregnancy due to the risk of spontaneous abortions and birth defects. The fluoroquinolones have also been reported as being present in the mother’s milk and are passed on to the baby.

Absolutely not!: Norfloxacin is a fluoroquinolone and should not be used in pregnancy unless benefit far outweighs the risk of fetal defects. The birth defects are most common in the first trimester - which you have completed.  I don't know why your doc recommended that? There are safer alternatives for pregnancy -such as amoxicillin. If it's loose BMs you have azithromycin might be best. It's pregnancy category B
