Yes: Strep throat is due to a Gram positive bacteria. Levofloxin can treat that as well as many Gram negative bacteria. Since you are allergic to PCN and Tetracycline this is a logical choice.

Antibiotics: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes –  see physician & get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.

Reaction?: Could be a reaction (not allergic) to the penicillin.  Check with your doctor for an alternative antibiotic to complete the course if treatment.

Antibiotics: Hi
So the usual recommendation is that you get tested for Group B strep between 35-37 weeks of your pregnancy. If you test positive, they will give you IV antibiotics that cover GBS during labor because the GBS transmission to the baby occurs during childbirth. Generally speaking, if an antibiotic doesn't cover GBS, it won't stimulate it to become "stronger".

Possibly: Sxs of strep throat can include: pain of throat; large, red tonsils with white exudates; small red dots on roof of the mouth; swollen lymph nodes on neck; fever, headache, rash, difficulty swallowing, fatigue or rash. Complications can include infection of middle ear, sinuses, tonsils, skin, blood as well as scarlet fever, inflammation of kidney (glomerulonephritis) & eventually rheumatic fever.

my grandson has a strep throat infection. he has been on amoxicillin for 48 hours. his fever is gone and throat feel better. but he is still nauseas and has lots his apatite. this has been the case throughout?

: Yes, it takes time to recover. Antibiotic at times can make him feel that way but he has to finish a full 10 day course. Good luck.
