hi there!
i have an itchy rash on my chest, it keeps spreading to shoulders and breast. i usually use fluticasone propionate 0.005% ointment for rashes but it doesn't help in this case. also, i moved from eu to the us a year ago. please help.

Need to be seen: start with your doctor, who may refer you to a dermatologist, it could very well be a fungal infection. Kindly don't use a strong steroid, prescription strength, medication as fluticasone  ointment  without doctor's supervision, best wishes

: see dermatologist for eval and tx. Could be a contact allergic dermatitis , which might need top steroid med for relief.

Suspect laundry soap: Rewash all of your bras with the previous laundry detergent and see it this helps.  In the meanwhile, try hydrocortisone cream on the breast to see if this helps. I think certain laundry detergents such as  OxyClean too irritating for some people.

Rash: Sounds fungal. Your dermatologist can scrape it and confirm.

Rash under breasts: Skin fold areas, where skin is pressed against skin, is prone to heat and sweat rashes. These areas include the upper inner thighs, under arms, and  skin under the breasts, especially women with large breasts,  you should dry the skin there by using witch hazel, several times a day, and allow the area to dry by fanning. Get Hydrocortisone cream 1% and rub a tiny bit once or twice a day.

Times cruris?: Could be a fungal rash called tinea cruris, or tinea versicolar depending on its exact location and appearance.  But that’s just one thought.  See a Dermatologist - may be an easy treatment regimen.

Hot tub folliculitis: If you have been frequenting a hot tub, one possibility is hot tub folliculitis. This is a rash caused by water contaminated with pseudomonas bacteria. It is typically red and itchy and most pronounced in areas covered by a swimsuit. Another possibility is grover's disease. These are red, somewhat itchy bumps, usually in sweaty areas.  Red, itchy bumps in body folds could be yeast. See your derm.

Depends: It is hard to tell even with direct examination but impossible without a more detailed description.  Having said that, most rash tends to be transient. However if it lasts more than 2 weeks or gets bothersome enough, see your doctor.

Unrelated: These two conditions are likely unrelated.  You may try a Hydrocortisone cream on the rash but the cough, if present for more than 3 weeks, should be evaluated by your doctor.  Occasionally a viral infection can cause both.
