Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Allergy: Could be allergic or a contact like poison ivy. Don't scratch it that may lead to infection. Think if you put on anything , ate anything or contacted any allergen . Gardening?

be careful, you might be very very contagious. There are some good antiviral medications. You should get checked out!

my mum is 63 with diabetes and hypertension. she got the oxford covid shot on the 28th feb. she had no reaction, no side effects. from the last 5 days she has developed a reddish rash on chest and stomach area, very itchy with no other symptoms. why?

: Not sure what day (after the 28th) you are asking this, but it is now March 17,so if this started March 12, it would not be from the vaccine. It would be unlikely to be from the vaccine any time. However, without seeing a rash, we cannot tell what it is or what it is from. I would recommend your mom contact her doctor and have the rash examined, so that she can have proper diagnosis and treatment.

Know the timing of onset and the evolution of the rash.

Try over the counter hydrocortisone 1% 
It may work but if it is not enough go to a dermatologist and get stronger cream to put on it at least twice daily

Don't tan: Some people have an itchy rash from ultraviolet light exposure called polymorphous light eruption.  Does this occur with natural sunlight also?  Are you on any medications.  There are many caused of light-induced rashes.  Tanning beds are proven causes of skin cancer.  Please don't use them!
