: Nodular melanomas are considered one of the fastest growing melanomas and grow both above and below the skin surface. The rate of growth varies among patients and could take months to a year to reach stage 2. A dermatologist could answer your question best.

: Each melanoma behaves differently. That’s the problem with cancers, that they don’t follow the rules of normal cells.Melanomas can grow very fast and, may have a very large component that is hidden to the naked eye and, spreading wider.
However, some patients with nodular melanoma evolve slower.
Impossible to say for sure. I recommend to have it fully treated once it’s diagnosed.It’s your priority

Variable survival fi: It is a very heterogeneous disease, so there is no one figure which will help you. If you give us the Breslow thickness of your nodular melanoma, we can give you a survival figure corresponding to that thickness. In general, Melanoma is diagnosed as stage 1 or 2 in more than 90% of patients, here the overall survival is over 80%. Once it starts to spread(stage 3) the survival drops to 50% level .

Variable: Most do not spread at all if treated by appropriate surgery.  Others spread to lymph nodes and some may be cured by removing the affected nodal area.  Others spread to brain, bone, liver etc.  The rate of progression in metastatic cancer varies from a few months in the worst case to a few years.  There are new drugs that offer some hope even for metastatic melanoma.

Not usually: Melanomas are distinguished by their growth patterns and most nodular melanomas are raised but not always pigmented. The basic types of melanoma include:
superficial spreading, lentigo maligna, nodular, and acral lentiginous.

Yes: If you have any type of melanoma, you should have it treated as soon as you can.  Left alone, melanoma will end your life.  The only time one would consider not treating it is if the patient can't undergo treatment, or if the life expectancy is already very short b/c of another medical problem.

Melanoma: Nodular melanoma typically skips the radial growth phase which predominates in the superficial spreading type of melanoma. However, that does not mean that it cannot change in diameter over 2 years. 2 years is  way too long time to have a nodular melanoma.

It could: Melanoma can do all kinds of things and can be very lethal. Something could be present for years and then sudden;ly change or seem to appear.  It should be checked out soon- preferably by a dermatologist or experiened surgeon.

You can find melanom: in situ, which means it has not penetrated past the top layer of skin or epidermis
