See answer: Nitrofurantion taken for 5-7 days usually a good antibiotic for a simple bladder infection but not a good choice if kidney infection is suspected (fever, chills, flank pain, nausea, feeling sick).  Your symptoms of brownish vaginal discharge and dull backache (if low), suggest a gynecological origin unrelated to your UTI (pending or abnormal period, vaginitis, etc). If persists/worsens, call md.

Use the back-up method during the run of your antibiotic and continue for one week afterwards.

: See your GYN physician for an exam, as cervical inflammation with sexual activity can cause light spotting, and orgasm will stimulate  vaginal contractions , causing even light bleeding to be externally visible.

Cycles of 26-30 are : considered pretty regular.  Having PMS symptoms of breast tenderness, water retention, and menstrual cramps are more common in women who ovulate.    If you are trying to conceive, there are urine tests to check the LH surge, which precedes ovulation, although it doesn't confirm release of an egg from the ovary.

Pill side effects: In the first 1-3 months after starting birth control pills, irregular bleeding (termed "breakthrough bleeding" is common.  For almost everyone, periods become very regular and predictable after that time.  Write down the dates of bleeding, keep taking the pill at the same time daily (missed pills can cause irregular bleeding), and see your doctor if it persists beyond 3 months.
