Needs diagnosis: If you have on-going symptoms that have not yet been solved or otherwise diagnosed and treated, then absolutely you need more brilliant minds on your case. Certainly specialists have alot to offer, although admittedly there could be some of that elephant effect (you know, 3 blind men go up to an elephant?...). I recommend consulting an ID doctor - they often have a very good perspective.

Get second opinion: It may be that a second doctor will agree with you, or it may be that the doctor will agree with the first doctor.  If the latter is the case, then you need to decide if you really need to see a neurologist.  If so, then you can always pay out of pocket to do so.  The care is available, you just have to be willing to foot the bill.

: I would suggest either a neurologist or an orthopaedic surgeon.  There are MANY reasons for limping and you will require a complete evaluation and testing based on the findings of the physical examination.

: Important question. Will you have $ or health insurance? Some drugs may not be available in other countries. If you go to some you do not need a prescription except for narcotics. I would discuss with your Dr and do a risk benefit analysis together that may help your decision making. If it requires a prescription I would go to drugs.com and read about availability in other countries.

: Emergencies are handled in the emergency rooms across the country. These are sites where law states no one is sent home without a screening evaluation. ER docs will often consult a specialist on call. About a complex case. No independent doc is required to see any patient just because another doc refers them. Check into local free clinics/medical schools/etc. that have staff that see uninsured pts

: A forum like this can't help without at least a little bit of information about the kind of health problem that requires neurological evaluation or care. Just keep your appointment and try to stop worrying in the meantime.
