Acute nerve pain: Hello. If no allergy to steroids, then steroids can be beneficial with reducing acute nerve pain. If allergy to steroids,but none to Toradol, then you could benefit from 5 days of this. Meds such as gabapentin, lyrica, (pregabalin) elavil, etc. can be useful too- if no allergies to them.

Yes and no: Cymbalta (duloxetine) can be used to manage chronic pain (neuropathic), but for the threshold of pain, which is more of a normal nature of human body, there is no data.

Nerve compression: Might be due to localized nerve compression or compression in the spinal cord.  Please seek medical evaluation if these symptoms persist, especially if you experience any incontinence (uncontrolled urination or defecation) as this can be a sign of a serious medical condition.

is this from the drug? 
is it dangerous?

See doctor: It is not likely that the medication is causing the leg swelling. What you described suggests venous thrombosis and there is risk of severe consequences. It is imperative that you see a doctor, immediately or go to the emergency department of a nearby hospital.

Natural?: Highly unlikely that you are going to find relief from otc products or health foods.  My advice would be to contact a pain clinic.

i had an emg about a week ago due to ongoing neurological symptoms (pain, perceived weakness, spasticity). emg came back clear, and i was told symptoms were likely related to hyperexcitability. can emg miss something serious like als?

Possibly : EMG is very helpful in diagnosing ALS but a normal study does not completely rule out that diagnosis.  If the symptoms are suspicious further testing/evaluation should be pursued

Not my first choice: Would not normally use codeine for any reason clinically other than for recalcitrant cough.  Opioids for nerve pain not the best approach, but drug Nucynta is approved for diabetic nerve pain.  Prefer gabapentin, Lyrica, Cymbalta, or even Savella (milnacipran).

See your doctor: Tramacet contains two active ingredients, paracetamol and tramadol, which are both painkillers and directed for acute pain, up to 3 month. the nerve pain is a chronic pain and different medications are prescribed for managing chronic pain.
Rec. see your PCP for medication adjustment or specialist referral.

Time: Usually it will improve with anti-inflammatories, rest, and physical therapy.  If it persists yo can consider an epidural injection and rarely surgery is needed.
