Concern?: Probably not.  Remember most "dental work" is surgical.  A period of healing is required.  If symptoms worsen, or do not spontaneously disappear over the next few days, call your Dentist.

Pressure: You may have a dental infection that is putting pressure on certain nerves of your jaw. Have yourself evaluated locally by a dentist. Allowing this to progress untreated may result in permanent numbness.

Vague: What dental work? Any injections? Any infections? Upper lip or low lip? One side or both sides? Speak to the dentist who treated you.

Perhaps: If she had a previous history of hsv, then the stress of dental work can lead to a localized breakout. If it is hsv, then yes, she is contagious. Anytime there are active hsv lesions - oral or genital - then one is contagious. It's the fluid within the blister that contains the virus.

Metal taste in mouth: Not sure what you had done, but i would want to know exactly what was done - did you have silver fillings done (which leave a metal taste for  a couple days) or did you  have some bridgework done (that might contain one of several different alloys)?.  I would ask  your dentist for specifics regarding this, just so you know what's going into your mouth - some metals are safer than others.
