Big toe pain: The big toe nerve pain can come from nerve impingement in the lumbar spine area, peripheral nerve impingement, diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy.  You would need an emg/ncv to get more information about the nerve pain. You should seek help from a pain management doctor.  You might benefit from a comprehensive evaluation and treatment.

i have what feels like nerve pain in my right foot by my little toe when i walk or even touch it. why is my foot hurting? i haven't injured it or done any out of the ordinary walking.

You : You can grow an area of nerves in the foot, that is called a "neuroma".  This can be treated with steroid injection.  You have probably already made sure that your shoes are fitting properly and padded your toe for protection.  However if this is new pain, you need a medical evaluation to make the diagnosis.  If you have increased pain, redness, red streaks, or fever, then you need immediate medical evaluation.

Neuritis: Nerve pain or numbness or burning is a common symptom associated with entrapment of a peripheral nerve in the foot.  It is not debilitating, but very annoying.  See your local podiatrist, an injection may be necessary to block the nerve and re-assess the symptoms post-injection.

where is nerve pain typically felt in the foot? what does nerve pain feel like? how can you tell if it's nerve pain?

A lot of Nerves.: Nerve pain seems to be more common on the bottoms of the feet as well as in the toes and forefoot areas. Having said that, nerve pain can be just about anywhere on the foot. The pain often is a burning, aching, sharp shooting or a fiery  type of sensation. Nerve pain is not always easy to distinguish, from other types of pain. A doctor can help with the identification, cause and treatment of such.

anyone heard of nerve pain shooting up into the thigh from the foot? triggered by either touching certain parts of the foot, putting on a sock etc

Yes: There are several causes including neuromas. Check with your primary care doctor or a podiatrist for help.

i broke my my foot 4 months ago. pain has returned. more pain with movement and walking. have a lot nerve pain. dr hasn't given any opinion.what to do?

Accepted Answer

Broken foot: If it was a fracture it should have healed. If the pain has returned then you must have it checked out - ?Recurrent fracture, rsd, ligament it requires treatment.

6 weeks post op from spinal fusion with nerve pain in the opposite leg and foot?

Accepted Answer

Compare the sides : Symptoms in the opposite leg that are identical in  location to your first presentation suggest there is a new problem involving of the nerves at the level of surgery which can be due to several post op complications. If the symptoms are not quite identical in distribution then sometimes fusion can lead to issues that may cause nerve irritation one level above/ below the fusion. See the Surgeon!

2 yrs and still have nerve pain after neuroma surgery on foot.  would eo, s like frankinsence, myrrh, eucalyptus, peppermint, roman chamomile help?

They certainly....: ...Won't hurt.  Try it, and see if you feel better.  You might also want to try a homeopathic remedy called hypericum.  It helps with nerve pain.  Look for a strength of 30c or 1m.  In the meantime, return to the doctor who originally took care of your foot to make sure there is not a new problem or recurrence of the old problem.

intense foot pain not nerve pain though it feels as if i've ran marathons or been standing for days when i haven't. also ankle pain and lower back pai?

Intense Foot Pain: When pain is intense at the foot level, you think about nerve pain or bone pain. If you have not done anything to possible bruise or break a bone, then the nerves from the neck, spine, and low back should be evaluated. Seek the advice of an orthopedist, neurologist, or physiatrist. Hope this helps. Dr Rich Blake

if i still have nerve pain and numbness in my foot along the s1 nerve 2 years post surgery, am i likely stuck with it? can the nerve still regenerate

Accepted Answer

Perhaps some: If it is 2 years since the injury and points to a more permanent condition.  There might be at least some small improvement.  Nerves can regenerate to some extent but that is a very slow process.  I am not sure what was done, but treatment for such conditions at this point are primarily supportive.  There are varying degrees of nerve injury and they all evolve around the extent of injury.
