Whole foods : If your child is in remission (no proteinuria)  a regular age appropriate diet is best.   If your child is on Prednisone a carbohydrate restricted diet (minimizing simple sugars) is best to minimize weight gain.   If your child is spilling protein,  severe salt restriction and fluid restriction in addition.   I would recommend a whole foods based diet to minimize cardiovascular complications.

Treatment is steroids to knock down the inflammation and stop the proteins from leaking out.  The problem usually resolves fairly quickly when treated.
