If you can only see it lying flat down, it's probably normal.

extreme neck pain for three days. now i only have mild neck pain slightly sore in the lower back with shortness of breath. i did 5 pull-ups and my heart started beating hard ( not usual for me during exercise) is there something i should worry about?

Really shouldn't: Understand that lhermitte's sign is a shock-like sensation that radiates to arms and legs during a flexion or forced flexion maneuver of the neck. Classically, this was used to identify ms. It is presently used to commonly identify symptomatic spinal cord compression. So, if you are not having the arm/leg symptoms, this is not lhermitte's sign. If yes, you should consider evaluation by spine md.

i can't breathe in well during exercise, i have stridor and it feels like my throat is tightening. i often faint after exercise. what could this be?

Go to the doctor: It could be exercise-induced inspiratory stridor, which is caused by the vocal cords tightening during physical activity. It's often misdiagnosed as exercise-induced asthma.  It can be treated.

What concerns me is fainting after exercise. It's possible that the eiis is causing the problem, but it can also be the sign of a serious cardiac issue. You need to have this checked out by a doc.

Muscle spasm: Most likely this represents muscle spasm, very common in people under a lot of stress, or who keep the neck in a fixed position too long, or who have structural spinal problems. This can be relieved by daily stretches, avoid prolong or awkward neck postures and learning to reduce stress.

i had a c-section a week ago. i got severe throbbing in my neck near the base of my skull during the surgery. now i have recurring neck pain. why?

Strongly recommend: you contact your OB doctor. You may well be fine, but this can result after spinal or epidural anesthesia. you'd need to be evaluated to say more, best wishes.

Should be tested: Apulsating soft tissue in the neck could be from the carotid artery itself, like carotid body tumor, or from tissue infront of the artery very close.

Carotid bruit: It may be your carotid artery. Please see your doctor and have duplex of carotids.

Throbbing NOT= vein: If the pain is throbbing and you can feel that in your neck area, this suggests likely arterial--the carotid artery. I am not sure what other medical conditions you have and/or medications you are taking, thus difficult to advise you. If this is severe and persisting, I would recommend an evaluation. If sudden in onset, an arterial dissection (bleeding into the wall) is a possible cause.

No It Isn't!: There are several things that could be causing it most fairly simple but some that could be more troublesome. You should get an appointment to see your md as soon as you can & describe what is going on so they can check it out. Better to be safe!
