Theoretically, HCG may exert some appetite suppressant qualities which make it easier to only eat 500 calories.  A pregnancy hormone,HCG is a pro-hormone and may promote other hormones, i.e. thyroid. Most authorities are skeptical of its safety and effectiveness. Target: 1200 cal/day + exercise.

the HCG diet is based on about 500 cal/day.
The over the counter HCG is not the real hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, --
a pregnancy hormone.This hormone, hcg, is supposed to cause a decrease in hunger etc. I can't say this is a true statement.I do not have any research articles on the validity of this claim.But, I am concerned about the safety of HCG for patients. Could it potentiate ca?

Only lemon: You can have only juice of one lemon without  any sugar, only saccharin or stevia can be used to sweeten.

No: I think that has kinda been, well, banned or something? In any event the bhcg's will not interfere with antibiotics.  We gone abx to pregnant women all the time.  Good luck with the diet, i'm not sure about whether it's banned but i think it got some bad press.

No. : Hcg diet is bogus, so don't waste your time and money. Any diet that is 500 calories a day will provide weight loss with or without hcg. The are no well designed studies that have demonstrated any real weight loss benefits with the use of hcg.

I would stop it.: Let your doctor know you are on the diet.  If you are taking drops or internet product i would recommend stopping as that won't work.  If you are taking injectable and you have an infection, it might be best to stop to let your body recover, as the ketotic effects may interfere with the distribution and effects from the medication.

Possibly: The HCG diet was originally developed by a.T.W. Simeons M.D. During the 1940's -1950's. It has been used all over the world for over 50 years. This method is extremely safe & effective when used under the care of an experienced & trained md. Apparently  HCG has an effect on your hypothalamus, increasing adiponectin levels & reducing leptin resistance. The method must be followed strictly to work.
