i  take hydrocodone  5-325 daily for chronic neck pain and migraines. how many per day can i take before it will hurt my organs?

Difficult to say: In general opioids are very safe long term. Perhaps even more dangerous is the tylenol (acetaminophen) often associated with the opioids - in your case the 325mg.  Please be sure to keep total daily dosage under 4000mg, long term i would suggest less than 2000mg. Finally have your doc check liver and kidney function every 6months while on these meds.

i have burning neck pain and been getting migraines daily with nausea, xray says the neck has muscle spasm, could the muscle spasm be causing migraine?

Yes: Muscle spasm may cause reversal of the cervical curve (lordosis), and cause increased pressure on the spine. If you have a chiari malformation, this also increases pressure on the brainstem. Trigger point injections to selected muscles, with myofascial release or cranial sacral manual therapies often provide relief.If persistent, get MRI cervical spine.

i am an epileptic and i take tegretol medication. can this cause severe neck pain and then cause headaches / migraines over the left eye and front part of head?

Neck pain,headache: I don't believe that these are side effects of tegretol. These symptoms are characteristic of occipital nerve neuralgia or impingement of the occipital nerve at the base of the neck vertebra by a disc or spur. Your neurologist can evaluate you and order any appropriate tests such as a neck spinal xray or MRI  in order to pinpoint the cause of your headache and neck discomfort and treat it.

Neck pain: Tension migraines are common with neck pain due to arthritis in the cervical spine. Muscles of the neck insert on the back of the head and connect with muscles attached to the skull. As the muscles of the neck tighten or go into spasm to maintain proper posture, tension headaches occur. Often the headaches worsen in the afternoon and evening.

ER: Sorry. Nobody in this forum can answer that question. Only you can decide if your symptoms are an emergency. Neck pain in the absence of progressive weakness, numbness, loss of coordination, loss of bowel/bladder control, is not an emergency. Migraine? Is it your typical? Again, diagnosed migraine that is not unusual, would not warrant er eval. Try calling your doc first and be seen.

Need to go to Headac: Headache clinics are the best places to go see a specialist, usually a neurologist. You need to be on one of the new migraine medicines called triptans which work wonderfully if you keep them handy and take one as soon as you feel the headache coming.

No: If you are asking in general, neither type of headache is dangerous-ie-lible to cause you harm or damage to the nervous system.

Evaluate Neck: If you are not improving have your doctor order a cervical spine mri.  Many times a herniated disc in the neck can cause arm pain especially if you have not improved with the medications and physical therapy.  If it is a herniated disc you may need evaluation from a spine specialist to determine what other options might be needed (injections, surgery, etc) to help reduce pain.
