i am on a 5 day amoxicillin dose. i get a lot of nausea after taking the capsule. any recommendation on food items i can take to hold the pull down so i dont throw up after taking it??

Amox: Amoxicillin is usually well tolerated. In your experience it's best to take immediately after eating some solid food which will coat your stomach lining better than soup or crackers. You'll have to take it with meals even if it's not exactly every 8 hours. as it's not rocket science 
 If you still vomit you are most likely intolerant of it and will have to switch to another antibiotic.

Take before meals: Although Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) may be taken with or without food it's a good idea to take Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) at the start of a meal to help prevent stomach upset.

i'm having nausea & shortness of breath...should i continue taking my amoxicillin...it will be 2 weeks come monday since i've had my tooth pulled?

Get checked: Nausea and shortness of breath are not normal, and could be serious.  They may not be due to the Amoxicillin, but could be. Although, likely something else is going on.  You need to be evaluated today.  Do not take Amoxicillin until you talk to a doc or your dentist and explain your symptoms.  If you cannot reach either one this moring go to an ER.

Side effects: Metronidazole is known for causing nausea, although with this combination of antibiotics it could be the illness itself. I would DEFINITELY call the doctor who prescribed this treatment. Depending on what this is, you might not need the metronidazole at all. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) could replace this combo and you would have very good 'coverage' for whatever that doc is trying to treat. Hope you can get help.

my 11yo daughter had strep 2 wks ago and took amoxicillin. has cont'd to feel nauseas with swollen tonsils. feels "gaggy". could it still be strep?

See details: Antibiotics often have no benefit for sinus infections. If you are having problems tolerating amoxicillin your doctor can switch to a different antibiotics if he or she thinks one is still necessary.
