Not relevant: When we are checking blood counts during pregnancy, assuming that the basic counts related to hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets are normal for pregnancy, then we really do not spend too much time looking at these individual parameters related to red blood cells.  If there is a more specific problem being asked, please ask!

hi i'm 38 weeks and 3days pregnant to be exact, through out my 2nd and 3rd trimester i've had bad nausea this week is really bad, why?

Reflux: The further along you in your pregnancy the higher likelihood of reflux which can lead to nausea. As the baby grows, it pushes on the diaphragm which can reduce the stomach size and can the symptoms you describe. Eat smaller meals more frequently to alleviate some of your symptoms. Try Tums (calcium carbonate) as well. Feel better.

SPD: Y ou may be in a lot of pain from your SPD which could be the cause of your nausea and headache. See your obstetrician if symptoms persist

would a d&c be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? and if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?

Accepted Answer

Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn."  A sad situation and I feel for her.
She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible.  The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth.  This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection.

38 weeks pregnant with nausea, back cramps and gas, could it be signs of labor?

Could be...: If the back cramps become  regular and progressively stronger, these symptoms would be compatible with labor. Start timing, lay back and relax in between. If the pain is continuous and not intermittent like early labor, then you need more urgent evaluation as this would not be normal at this point and could point to a problem.

Get checked: At this stage of pregnancy these symptoms could be sign of labor or a worrisome problem like fetal distress due to any reason like dehydration or cord around baby's neck or early separation of placenta. It is best to see your OB doc and get checked to make sure baby is okay.

Obgyn evaluation: You will need to contact your Obgyn to arrange an evaluation. Since you are near term you will need to make sure you did not break your water. You could just be dilating and passing your mucous plug. An evaluation will be needed to determine what is going on.

i have terrible acid reflux causing nausea and vomitting and i'm 38 weeks pregnant i have tried milk, zantac, (ranitidine) thumbs and nothing helps. normal?

It's miserable: Acid reflux is definitely miserable in pregnancy.  The good news is - it's going to end soon!  Pepcid and Zantac (ranitidine) are class B in pregnancy which is safe to use.  Ask your OB if they approve of you trying one of those medications.  Good luck!
