Hard to predict: Assuming (likely) that your heavy periods do nott have an anatomic cause, the pill will ususally give predictable lessening of flow which will continue. Stopping will not be harmful but risks return of the heavy flow.

Not Acceptable! : Find another doctor. Menstral bleeding when severe, can lead to severe anemia which could be potentially serious..

I dont: really know of any natural ways. But, fibroids are rarely associated with bleeding unless they are submucosal meaning they sit directly under the blood lining of the uterine cavity. I would need more info to help give more guidance

Limited: You could consider paragard IUD which is non-hormonal, however the biggest side effect can be irregular bleeding. Having said that, i've had several patients who have minimal bleeding if any at all about 1 yr after using this method.

: You should see your gynecologist for an evaluation. Bleeding for a month is quite a while to be bleeding so have a doctor evaluate you. Good luck!

Endocrinology: The absence of a fertilized egg tells the lining of your womb to expel the lining(a period).It only takes a few days to do this.

Bleeding : Bleeding between menses can be a signal of a problem. Especially, if you are also having regular monthly menses. I would recommend an evaluation with your ob/gyn. While this should not cause alarm this can be caused by irregular hormone levels, a mass in the uterus, pregnancy, or bleeding disorder.

Not, but possible: I would not say it was normal, but is not unusual for the periods to be slightly abnormal on occasion. If it keeps happening, you need to see your GYN for evaluation.

See a gynecologist: Persistent vaginal bleeding in a 47 year old is not uncommon, is usually due to benign fibroids or related to menopause, and can be easily treated with hormone supplementation. However the exact cause of YOUR bleeding needs to be determined and not assumed. Gynecologists are best suited for this task and should be consulted either through your primary provider or directly. Don't wait, do this NOW.

Evaluation: She needs to see a doctor sooner than later and if she has any other symptoms she needs to see a doctor immediately. A definitive diagnosis will be made and treatment  initiated. this will give her comfort. Pls encourage her to seek medical care.
