Lung pain: Lung pain is often associated with irritation in a young person.  Reflux can be a cause as well as toxic exposure depending on what is smoked and environmental exposures.  See you doctor for a work-up.

Possibilities....: Your breathing difficulties are likely due to bronchospasm. The bronchospasm could be due to post-nasal drip (or other sinus problems) and/or reflux. Bronchodilator and steroid inhalers can treat the bronchospasm and there are treatments for the sinuses and reflux so see your doctor asap. Smoking cessation will help improve your breathing as well. If your breathing worsens, go to the er.

Find cause first: Night time coughing can be a symptom of asthma, post nasal drip from allergies or sinus issues or even acid reflux from the stomach.  Night cough can interfere with normal sleep patterns and lead to day time drowsiness.  A lung specialist such as an allergist or pulmonologist can assist in finding the cause so that remedy can be prescribed.
