There have been a number of approaches (like micro-fracture surgery plus/minus autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis) in an attempt to get the body to regenerate cartilage. Lets just say the techniques are less than perfect but may help some.

Probably: Stem cell therapy shows great promise in treating a wide variety of diseases including ra. Clinical studies are underway (mostly outside the us- regulations regarding blood product harvest and use are arduous in the states) and should they prove safe and effective over time they may prove a viable treatment option. I think your estimate of one to several decades before widespread use is likely.

Knee pain: Those are both low impact exercises that will help with keeping you in motion.  I would also increase diet, consider glucosamine as some people have found improvement in cartilage.  That being said ligaments should be properly evaluated by orthopedic.

Tooth regeneration: I have been waiting since reading an article from britain  on stem cells and tooth buds 15 years ago. The article promised regeneration in 5 years; they are 10 years behind. The best we have today are implants and they work wonderfully well.

Orthopedist: Torn cartilage in the knee for example if causing significant pain or catching and locking of the knee can be evaluated by an orthopedist.  There are no natural scientifically proven treatments for that problem.  There are some natural antiinflammatories for pain such as turmeric.  It is a mechanical problem though.
