Over time the urge to do the behavior is more easily dismissed.

No: But there is plenty of help. Ocd like many other disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis and mood disorders can be treated successfully, but often require long term treatment so the disorder does not seriously impair a persons function and they can live a fairly normal life. The best care is counseling, desensitization and medication combined. A strong positive attitude helps also.
