It has lots of ways it can effect you and many times it is hard to diagnose because it is so vague. If you think you have it, eventually you will need to have a doctor take of piece of tissue (called a biopsy) from a spot they think is crohn's to send to the lab and know for sure.

Lab cost+Time: That is what you are paying for.  A couple hundred dollar lab bill and the time for the dentist.  I agree that some price their crowns too high and some would say other price them too low.  You have to make informed decisions about who to see for your work.  Consider quality in that decision as well.

Depends: Onlays are more conservative and require less tooth removal.  The tooth enters the gum naturally if an omlay is used since they are mostly above the gumline.  It all depends on the amount of tooth to begin with.

Gagging: Chronic gagging is due to a hypersensitivity on the pharynx. You could try to anesthetize the area to stop the feedback loop of feeling like there is something there. You can try viscous lidocaine. Your doctor can write for it. It is 2% solution. If this does not work you can try gabapentin. You will need a prescription for this and a doctor's visit. Good luck. Don't use superglue!: If you mean "lose" as in cannot find, then you'll have to see a dentist to make a new one.

If you mean "lose", like came off the tooth while eating and i still have the crown in my possession, then don't use superglue to replace it. Drugstores usually have temporary glue you can use, but eventually you'll have to see a dentist to get it replaced properly. This is much less costly than a new one.
