NSAID: Naproxen is one medicine of a group of medicines known as nsaids which means non steroidal anti inflammatory medicine.  It is used for inflammation pain such as arthritis or acute injury.  Other examples include advil or ibuprofen, voltaren or diclofenac.

Side effects: All medications have side effects- you should avoid taking on regular basis unless absolutely needed. If you need once in a while take acetaminophen. Naproxen use on regular basis can lead to stomach problems- gastritis, erosions and kidney damage.

see details: You may have major GI irritation (ulcers, bleeds) or in severe cases, kidney failure.

Speak with your doc: Unfortunately many busy docs do not explain the reason fo the meds, or the side effects and the patient often is too shy to ask if it will help, not hurt. My favorite part while talki with  my patient is to share possible problem such as the right times to take ordered meds, how much to take and when. I am always concerned that clients will not take meds in timely manner.Stop if side effects .O.

can i take aleve (naproxen) while on my uti medication?

Probably: If you have a simple UTI and are on short term antibiotics, there should not be any problems. Since some antibiotics can cause stomach upset- as can alleve- i would consider separating them and especially take the alleve after a meal.

only otc medication i have found to help pain of achilles tendonitis is aleve (naproxen). however, i have to take 600 mg. is that safe on a regular basis?

Yes for short period: Of time, like 4-7 days or so. All nsaids are not recommended for anyone with kidney problems. Normal dose of aleve (naproxen) is 220 or 250 mg twice a day.  For short periods of time up to 1000 mg maybe used.
I would recommend pt for stretching and splint. 
If no improvement after 6 weeks, then maybe a MRI might be needed to evaluate the status of the achilles tendon.

Regular cycles: Many factors can cause our menstrual cycles to vary.  Just to name a few: eating habits or changes, stress, surgical prcedures, illnesses and medical conditions.

Both affect BP: All NSAID's, including ibuprofen and naproxen, have the potential to increase blood pressure (BP). In most people the change is small but, on occasion, a significant elevation of BP may occur. Consider monitoring your BP (call your MD staff so they can assist you in arranging for you to drop in randomly for 3-6 BP checks over the next several weeks) to see if BP is affected while on a NSAID.

i've been on a lot of medication including 6 weeks of clarithomycin 2wk 500mg 4wk 250mg. x8 cocodamol. naproxen, diazepam. can this delay my period?

Being sick: Those medication aren't necessarily likely to affect your cycle, however any stress in your body can disrupt your hormone levels. Being sick may be more related to your missed period than your medications.

i would like alternatives to my present prescription medication that is not working. at the present, the va doctor has me on 5mg oxycodone (x2 three times per day), 10mg cyclobenzaprine (two per day), & 500mg naproxen (1 per day). i have spinal degenerati

You : You are smart to be concerned about the side effects and consequences of medication management.  You don't mention how long you've been having symptoms or if you have other significant health issues (i.e. Diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea).  My suggestion would be that you see a competent, board certified pain medicine doctor to review your situation.  Possible non-drug options would include: physical therapy, epidural injections of corticosteroid, acupuncture or even surgery, all dependent on your individual case.  Good luck!
