Protection: IN the future - nair is not designed for delicate areas such as the vagina/ vulva - so please don't do that.
You can use a hydrocortisone cream (not ointment) and   an antibacteria cream such as bactroban (requires a prescription), and KEEP the area area CLEAN and DRY - and use antibacteria soap - NOT any lotions, vaseline, etc.  In addition, I also recommend never shaving - trimming okay.

Never: First off I advice people to never use Nair or other depilatory products on the sensitive pubic area. Now that one has the burn, it is best to protect it from other chemical irritants until it is completely healed. I would include a chlorinated pool and tight clothing to the list of irritants.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful answer without examining you. If you were not exposed to a chemical, are sexually active, it may be a sexually transmitted infection like herpes. It would be prudent to see a doctor. If you do not have a doctor, go to the planned parenthood clinic in your area.

How bad is it?: If it is just a vulvar(outside) "burn" then hot sitz baths will alleviate the discomfort. If is vaginal (inside) then a MD needs to evaluate the area for possible Rx.

Until it heals: Itching is the first stage of the pain response from the chemical burn and tissue exfoliation.  If the itching continues beyond one week, go see a MD to have the area checked for continued healing or infection.

Allergy more likely: Whatever is causing the itching (probably an infection) made your tissue more sensitive to some ingredient in the itch cream.  Try warm sitz baths with something soothing like Aveeno oatmeal.  If no better, you need to have the infection diagnosed and treated specifically.  Good luck!

Variable: Sorry to hear about the burn, Louise. If it's a full thickness epidermal burn, it can take 2 weeks to regenerate. For now, I'd recommend either topical aloe vera (as needed) or lidocaine gel (up to every 4 hours), cotton underwear, and avoidance of jeans. The area may stay a bit red or darker for awhile. Laser hair removal may be a good option in the future.

See dermatologist: See either your primary care physician or board certified dermatologist do properly diagnose exactly what is going on and give you an effective treatment. Don't use nair on your face in the future.
