Anything fine: After a thyroidectomy there is generally restriction on what you can and cannot eat.   Generally you may have some neck soreness immediately post-op which may be better to eat soft foods or liquids, but this should resolve in a day or two.

Not if: You had a total thyroidectomy and have been taking adequate brand name T4 replacement to keep your levels normal. If only a portion of your thyroid was removed and you're not on replacement, it's certainly not only possible but likely.

Thyroidectomy: If you have had a total thyroidectomy your doctor must have started you on replacement thyroid hormone.

In that case, once your thyroid levels are under control there is no thyroid reason for you not to get pregnant.

2-3 weeks: Hematomas are collections of blood. They initially coagulate then liquefy after 1-2 weeks.  After they liquefy your body will resorb them or you can have them drained.

Not Good.: Very likely that your procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. Your anesthesiologist will be able to keep you “still”;  generally speaking,  coughing during the procedure would be very unusual. Most good anesthesiologists will also try to minimize coughing/straining even when patients are waking up ( i call this no “bucking around” time). Best wishes with your upcoming procedure.

Swelling, tender, re: If the area is swollen and tender or getting red, you need to see your doctor immediately!

Accepted Answer

Depends on amount: Most will return to normal within 2w, some never do and a supplement may be necessary. If your pre surgery TSH was <2, and 4wafter surgery it is >4, i would recommend supplement.
