im going to have an enlarged taste bud removed by my dentist; how will my tongue will be numbed ?  will he put a needle in my tongue ?

sometimes when i get lightheaded my tongue/mouth goes numb. doesnt tingle just feels numb like after the dentist. what could cause this? tests so far are normal?

Numb: Would think that the primary objective would be to identify what makes you lightheaded. As numbness associated with your lightheadedness, probably associated. Many possible causes. Have you seen a Neurologist? Would also recommend that you see your Dentist to rule out localized oral cavity causes.

Anesthesia: It appears that all of the nerves that your dentist was trying to numb were not numb. Therefore it is normal that you felt discomfort while being treated.

Unrelated: Have you parent or guardian take him to a physician, or at least have him\her call for advice. I doubt the visit and treatment at the dentist is related to any treatment there. You're a good brother to be concerned and ask for help.

Specialist: You can't prove thrush or not without a culture or trial of antifungal agents. See an oral medicine specialist or oral surgeon. Not a general dentist.

right side of tongue is a little red and feels funny when i press it against the top of my mouth, kind of a bit of a numb feeling, i was at dentist for a root canal but on other side, what could this be? no lumps or sores on tongue. im worried?

Antibiotics: Antibiotics should not be causing an anesthetic effect in any part of your body, let alone small specific areas. Not knowing exactly where you were injected or the condition of your mouth, it would be wise to contact the dentist who treated you.

Local anesthesia: has been making life more comfortable for dental patients since 1884. The first thing the dentist does is place a Q-tip dipped in topical anesthetic and it numbs the surface of your mouth, then the medicine is injected into the inside of your mouth using a very gentle dental needle. Local anesthesia: There are two considerations. First, everyone has different pain thresholds. Some of my patients feel the slightest drilling, perhaps even have teeth sensitive to cold water without any drilling. For others, i could do almost anything and they feel nothing! secondly, some fillings are small and superficial and therefore don't require local anesthesia.

Local anesthetic. : Normally the dentist will use a local anesthetic like Lidocaine next to the root of tooth or location near the nerve trunk to numb teeth and gums.  A topical ointment is often rubbed on gums prior to the injection to take the sting out of it. The shot will numb the area for several hours.  Caution must be taken after the procedure to not injure the numb area.
