Pharyngitis: This may be an obvious answer, but you are clearly experiencing significant irritation from high dose of nicotine and many other toxins you inhale using your shisha pen. I advise that if you do not want your throat to hurt, stop all nicotine use including inhaling your shisha pen.

my throat hurts when i inhale deeply. happens when i exercise vigorously or inhale deeply on purpose (i.e. before attempting to swim underwater for a long time). pain can cause me to cough.

Get a check up.: Throat pain can have a variety of causes and needs to be examined to give a more accurate answer. One of the common reasons is inflammation of the throat secondary to silent reflux of acid. Please see an ENT for examination and getting an accurate diagnosis.

Inhaled chloring gas: Chlorine gas is a potent oxydizer when it contacts moist surfaces in your throat, nose and lungs.  Get to fresh air as soon as possible.  When possible rinse the areas with water to dilute the chlorine.  Always use bleach in well ventilated areas.

Ingestion of water.: If looks like you have probably been waiting at least a couple days since you inquired.  If you are still having chest pain (that is sigificant) and/ or difficulty breathing - then it would be worth getting evaluated. Salt water from ocean can contains lots of different organisms.

it started with a cough. i went to immediate care and was prescribed an inhaler for wheezing that was heard. however im still experiencing a popping cracking sensation when i exhale thats kind of in my throat. no fever, no sore throat?

: Where is the popping sensation occurring? Is it in your throat or chest wall? If you coughed forcefully, you could have injured either something in your neck or in your chest wall. A CT scan of the area may help in the diagnosis and to see if there is anything that would need to be treated. Controlling the cough to prevent further injury would be needed as well. See a lung doctor for evaluation.
