Uncertain: It's not at all clear that inflammation is in fact part of the problem in pulmonary fibrosis. Cough and phlegm are very common and extraordinarily difficult to treat patients with my fibrosis.  We currently lack any known effective treatment for this terrible disease.

Difficult to say: You do not indicate where you are overseas and whether there are reputable doctors.  It would be worth your while to see a pulmonary doctor who specializes in pulmonary fibrosis.  There are many causes for this condition and sometimes a lung biopsy is indicated.
Since pulmonary fibrosis can be a serious condition, be sure to see a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating this condition.

Maybr: The cough is from the pulmonary fibrosis.  Bronchodilator therapy may help with the symptoms.  If your pulmonary fibrosis is due to active SLE in your lungs you may also need cytoxan (cyclophosphamide) therapy.  It is very important you avoid tobacco, and exposure to airborne particles and gasses.

It won't...: Pulmonary fibrosis is something that will not go away- at our present state of medicine, there is no cure. However,  it can be managed. A pulmonary medicine specialist is certainly merited in this case. With additional research, an effective therapy could be made one day.

Severity: It rally depends on the severity. Mild forms may cause minimal or no symptoms whereas severe forms are incapacitating. Discuss with your pulmonologist.

Where is your pain?: Pulmonary fibrosis causes shortness of breath not pain. Did you recently have biopsy to diagnose this condition? If so persistent pain is not normal and should be investigated.

Scarring of the lung: When scar tissue builds up in the lungs the lungs become still , breathing becomes difficult and the ability of the lungs to extract oxygen from the atmosphere with each breath is impaired.
