Why: There is no need to take anything just because the color of the stool has changed. Probably excess bile or something you ate.

Can be normal: A breast fed baby can have a small smear of poo with every feed or a giant blowout once every 7-10 days.Normal volume is about 1/2 cup/day at 9wks. Color variation through various shades of yellow to green are normal. See the dr if concerned.

my daughter is three months old and 5 days ago we had a stool exam because her poops is mushy green, watery and it has mucus. her puss is 0-1..what does it mean?for now her pedia gave her antibiotic..

Diarrhea : I need more information.  Did her doctor request a stool culture?  If that was done &amp; it showed bacterial infection then you are on the right track. Modifying  her diet and  keeping her hydrated  is very important.  I hope she gets better soon.

Don't worry: The color of your bowel movements usually don't mean anything (unless its bloody or dark black).  Its usually related to what your eating/drinking and what meds your taking.  I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you develope symptoms (diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nasea, etc).  In that case see your doctor.

Food : The food your baby eats dictates the color of the bm. Formula fed babies have green poops from supplemental iron.  Breast fed babies can have green poops from cracked nipples.  If you're fine, and the baby is fine, don't worry.

Soft stools: The color of the stool doesnt matter. It sounds like you have a viral infection, lactose intolerance or a reaction to something you ate. My best advice is to avoid all dairy products for 3-5 days and limit your diet to Bananas, rice, fresh apples, tea, dry toast and yogurt ( vanilla or lemon). The yogurt replenishes the good bacteria in yuur bowel.

Green stool + pain: The color of stool varies with foods, speed of emptying of the GI tract, medications & supplements ingested, gut flora (unique for each individual), additives (like blood), subtractions (like absent bile), infection, inflammation, & other factors. Consider what you consumed in the last few days. Given your symptoms however its best to see your doctor for evaluation, particularly if persistent.

Gastroenteritis: Possible gastroenteritis . Stay hydrated by taking small sips of water and some food in small quantities very frequently. If not able to keep anything down  or having severe diarrhea or abdominal pain you should medical seek help as soon as possible.

i gave my three year old son miralax (polyethylene glycol) once last week to help with mild constipation and his stool has been loose and green for about 5-6 days ever since. is that normal? should i be concerned?

Possibly miralax (polyethylene glycol) : The color of this poo is normal and nothing to worry about. What dose of miralax (polyethylene glycol) did he get?  It would not be unusual for miraax to cause several days of loose stools.  Is his belly distended? Any blood in the stool? Any exposures to reptiles or family members cooking chitlins?  Another alternative to miralax (polyethylene glycol) is mineral oil to soften stools without the associated "blowouts" we see with miralax (polyethylene glycol).

Several reasons: The color of baby's stools can range from green to yellow to brown. The color usually depends on how fast the stool moves through the intestines or items in the diet. If she throws up all of her feeding consistently, see her doctor right away. Otherwise, slightly decrease the volume of her feedings for a day or so and ensure she burps well. If she acts uncomfortable, see the pediatrician.
