Sure: But there are many reasons a nipple can be sore. Generally, the breasts are the most tender not just the nipples, but checking a pregnancy test is very reasonable and simple to do.  Infections including yeast infections are also common casues.  Trauma is also a a cause. A breast exam and possible imaging study like mammogram or ultrasound or ductal evaluation may be required.

Stop smoking or drinking alcohol if you do these and verify whether or not you're pregnant. If you are your doctor may want to start you on prenatal vitamins and discuss this whole subject in detail.
