It's difficult to: Make an assessment of a skin lesion without seeing it. It could be one of many possibilities including eczema , tinea/fungus etc. Go see your dr for an accurate diagnoses. Take care!

i have discovered a bruise on my right hip (~2" long), don't know how it got there. now it's turned into an itchy rash. please help.

Get checked: Though one can bruise yourself from scratching, normally the itch comes first. Rarely but possible I have seen severe hives resolve leaving a bruise, thought due to an autoimmune phenomenom. Perhaps it's not quite a bruise. Early shingles? UP? DH? Recommend be examined and get it checked out.

Multiple options: The symptoms you describe could be from an allergy, a type of arthritis, an infection or a combination. The best doctor to see to sort this out is a rheumatologist. An allergist or immunologist could help as well.

Need more info: It's hard to diagnose skin problems without seeing them. Could be anything from allergy to insect bites. Please get to see your family physician ASAP before it gets worse.

Can,t make diagnosis: It is not possible to diagnose the type of lump from description or size of lump. Best to get checked  and  if needed get excisional biopsy. That way you will know for sure . It does not necessarily mean it is serious as it could be simple cyst as well but better to talk to your doctor.

Try Vaseline: Generally this is due to overly dry skin and can be treated with emollients like petroleum jelly.  particularly if it occurs at night when using a greasy skin product may be less cumbersome.  would try this as a first measure

Hard to say...: It is always hard to diagonose a rash specifically without seeing it.  Based soley on the location and description, scabies is a possibility.  i would suggest having someone look at it.
