No same: exercise intolerence and fibro fog are all consitant with fibro, diagnosis of exclusion should have negative tests for other things before using this dx.

Possibly: Vitamin D deficiency could cause aching legs and sore knees. 
A more common cause of knee pain in a young healthy woman is when the kneecap doesn't track straight in the groove.  Pain worse with stairs is classic. Usually pain in the front of the knee.  "patello-femoral pain syndrome".  PT will help.  Exercise to strengthen the medial quadriceps.  good luck! :-)

Avoid aggravating: Excess weight can put a strain on the joints and promote pain with even normal every day activities. Specific foods or supplements won't help much. Strengthening the supporting muscles will, and walking and other quadriceps strengthening exercise should help.  Avoid, when possible, those activities that cause pain. Most important is weight loss to reduce the strain.  Good wishes:)

Protection: The body protects itself.  When you have a small bit a cartilage floating around the knee joint and go to bear weight, your body stops you from injuring itself.  The giving way is your body not allowing to bring your full weight down and injuring the surface of the joint further.

i have mild leg weakness. i find when i'm tired it seems worse and becomes hard to do activities such as climbing stairs. is this expected? any advice

Yes, with weakness -: Your symptoms will get worse. 
One needs to determine why do you have weakness in the first place?
Se your pcp to be evaluated/investigated ; treated. Any infective condition ( with viral being rather common) will give you generalized weakness; a back issue with pinched nerve will probably give a one-sided weakness; or it could be due to a local soft tissue or bony lesions. Might need an orthopod.

Could be stenosis: When standing, spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine usually becomes more symptomatic. In other words, the pain or numbness in the legs gets worse. I recommend evaluation by your doctor who could order tests such as x-rays, MRI or a ct scan of your low back and check for other possible causes of your complaints.

i am getting severe leg muscle pain if i do brisk walking or running, and climbing stairs. if i do normal walking its fine.

Possible Cause: This could be from possible exercise induced compartment syndrome if it is in your lower legs.  I would recommend good hydration, lower leg strengthening and if it is very painful that actually stops you from activities you would like to do then consider seeing a specialist like myself or do compartment testing.
