Sore throat: Most people do not need to see a doctor about a sore throat. It usually gets better on its own. But sore throat can sometimes be serious.
See a doctor or nurse if:
●You have a fever of at least 101°F or 38.4°C
●Your throat pain is severe within the first 2 days, or does not start to improve within 5 to 7 days
Go to the emergency room if:
●Have trouble breathing
●Drooling because you cannot swallow

Reflux: Reflux can produce a condition called shatzki's ring. Scar tissue which can provide for food impaction. Urgent problem. May require emergency department evaluation.

See allergist: The answer is yes.  In fact you may have a condition known as Eosinophilic esophagitis which can lead to scarring and obstruction to passage of food.   Seasonal occurrence has been reported and attributed to pollen allergy (usually it is from food).  You need to consult an allergist ASAP. In the meanwhile , eliminate dairy from your diet and see if this helps.

i can swallow moist food and beverages, but dry food particles seem to get stuck in back of throat, not esophagus.  could this be my swollen tonsil?

Dysphagia, LERD, or?: Difficulty swallowing ("dysphagia") can be distinguished as a "transfer" problem (difficulty moving food from mouth to top of esophagus), "transit" problem (difficulty moving food down the esophagus), "spasm", gerd (due to sphincter problems), or obstructive (webs, rings, strictures, ulcer, tumor). LERD, hypopharyngeal inflammation or trauma, foreign bodies also need to be considered. Get eval.

my swollen thyroid on the left is likely causing the sensation of food stuck. is there a high chance it's wrapped around my esophagus? should i request an ct scan instead of thyroid ultrasound to see if it is wrapping around?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Eating: Sometimes ingested items not fully chewed  can get stuck in esophagus. Chicken and fish bones sometimes leave sensation because of scratch in esophagus or pharynx leave stuck sensation. Narrowings (stenoses) of esophagus from surgery, reflux esophagitis, hernia and congenital abnormalities can cause holdup of materials.

Acid reflux control: sounds like you may have acid reflux. You could try a 2 week course of prilosec OTC 20mg/day and go see your doctor for further evaluation.

Esophagitis: You may have irritation of your esophagus from acid reflux. Try an over the counter antacid and see if your symptoms improve. If not, you need to see a gastroenterologist and let them investigate the issue.
