doctor, doctors say that my grandfather's heart is working only 25%. please explain me what does this mean. he is 72 years old.

?EF: They may be referring to his Ejection Fraction (EF), that was measured most likely on an Echocardiogram. The EF is a measurement of how well the heart is pumping. It represents the volumetric fraction of blood pumped out of the left and right ventricle with each heartbeat or cardiac cycle. 25% is ow and he will need to be followed closely by the Cardiologist.

Efficiency: Like any man-made machine, the heart is an efficiency rating.  The normal is roughly anywhere between 55-65%.  This is referred to as the systolic ejection fraction, or ef.  Some people may be at 70%.  Your heart function is depressed starting around 45%.  At 5%, your heart is significantly weak and means that only 5% of the heart contracts to expel blood to the body.

used to only have single pvcs in holter monitor now im having couplets in my holter monitor test does that mean my heart is getting worse? it started getting worse when i started working out because my doctor said i should and can workout?

: I would let your Dr know but will probably want to wait to see Holter. Unless they can see it remotely as you are wearing it.  Ask Dr who knows you about working out. Sometimes it makes PvCs better, sometimes worse.

Heart: The human heart is usually right behind the breast bone and central in the thorax. Folks have a misconception that the heart is on the left. The apex of the heart does stick out to the left but the mass of the heart is central.

Nothing: It means nothing. Forget it. (suppose you have green eyes and your doctor tells you that they're hazel?)

Heart sounds: No. Some times in obese individuals or COPD patients it is difficult to hear heart sounds.

Check your lungs for: It could be anxiety, but you have to check your lungs, you could have asthma or any other lung disease. If they can not find anything else, then you could say that it is from anxiety.

i had a monitor and the doctor said my heart rate got down to 45 a few times but i shouldn't worry "now" i'm freaking out, what does this mean???

Heart rate: If you are without symptoms and the holter doesn't show an abnormality to account for the low rate, then the low rate is no problem. Stop freaking out and find something else to worry about......or even better don't freak out about anything and enjoy your life.

i have low neutrophils and high eosinophils.what does it mean?  also, my doctor said my heart is beating slowly. are these two things related? thanks.

How high?: Hypereosinophilia (&gt;1500 measured on two separate occasions weeks apart) can lead to cardiac and other organ damage.   If you fit this picture, then you really need to consult an allergist to find out the cause for the hypereosinophilia and be treated accordingly. If the number is just moderately elevated, then the cardiac issue is unrelated.

just had heart cath. doc said that there were areas that shows lack of oxygen in heart. what could that mean?

Blockage: You have blockages (stenoses) in your coronary arteries, the arteries that carry oxygen to your heart muscle. If your doctor didn't recommend intervention (surgery or balloon), they must be relatively mild. In that case, life style changes with improved diet, more exercise, aspirin, metoprolol, and a statin are indicated. (and, of course, no smoking, if you do/did that).
