There : There are many things that cause umbilical (aka belly button) pain. You may have an umbilical hernia (part of the intestines bulging through a defect around your belly button) or even appendicitis (an inflammation/infection of the appendix) 
there are other possibilities including irritable bowel syndrome, cancers(rectal, colon), and even kidney problems.
The bottom line is umbilical pain can be a sign of a serious condition, and warrants an evaluation by your primary care provider right away.

I don't see: How you can be sure that it is air.  If it is, it is a surgical emergency.  More likely, it is fluid for fat which is incarcerated within a hernia.  Get medical evaluation.  If you have pain or tenderness, you must go to hospital now.

Signs/symptoms of concern include: local redness ; drainage, umbilical bulging that can't be reduced with gentle pressure, fever, vomiting, change in bowels, generalized abdominal tenderness (suggests peritonitis), worsening pain. Get checked.

It may be related to your periods. If the pain gets worse, you get fever, or other severe symptoms it would be prudent to see your doctor.

As the uterus is growing out of the pelvis, your muscles and tissue have a tendency to stretch and can pull on the belly button.  You can help by wearing a maternity belt to ease the pain.  But the pain will not go completely away until after delivery.
