Not hopeless: You could have a problem absorbing food. Avoiding lactose and gluten might help. Also avoid alcohol,  tobacco products, and processed food. Read kelly mcgonigal's the will power instinct to learn to mange stress skillfully and make healthy life style changes. Healthy fresh vegetables, fruit, high quality protein, good fats, and starches, a good night sleep, and exercise aerobic and resistive helps.

Formula milk: takes the priority, you can feed your baby right away if it is time for feeding, unless full and doesn't want to have more, you can wait and re-introduce after a little while, wish you both wellness

Starting solid food: We start with plain rice cereal mixed with baby formula to be given with spoon . Make it the consistency of sauce  and feed the baby . It make take some time for him to get used to it . You may start once a day and then can go to twice a day too . Check what's the contents of cerelac .

Wheat cereal: At this age he may eat wheat cereal once a day.It is not advised for younger children because it can cause allergic reactions such as vomiting, diarrhea, colicky pain or skin rashes. If any of these symptoms affect your child, i would stop and try feeding cereal one or two months later.

Just keep trying!: It may take many tries before babies will accept a new food.   Is he breast fed? Is he gaining weight well? Discontinue Cerelac: It is possible that the cerelac is thickening the milk too much and causing abdominal discomfort. Take note of exactly how many ounces your baby is drinking. A 5 month old should be taking about 6oz five times in a 24 hour period. She should not be eating anything else at this time including cerelac which contains wheat. You may want to take her to her Dr so that he can examine her.

Continue milk/formul: Continue milk and formula, and provide adequate hydration and foods rich in fiber. 
A small amount of prune juice may be provided. If the problem continues, please see your pediatrician. Milk and formula are important sources of nutrition.

Cereal: If your child is breast fed, we tend to wait till 6 months. If your child is feeding formula, we introduce cereal at 4 months, depending if he/she is waking up at night alot and require feeding more often
