Veinous congestion: The cast slows blood return ot of limb giving it a blueish tint pretty normal may need to be loosened if swelling gets worse or painful keep it above your herart elevate arm.

Weeks not Months: A "bone bruise" is actually a collection of blood under the periosteum (fibrous "wrapping" of the bone) and since the circulation is not great it take a longer time to resorb the blood than an ordinary bruise. The fact that a cast was applied suggests that there also may be a tiny fracture (called "avulsion fracture") along with the bruise. 6-8 weeks is the usual number given for complete healing

See below: I believe you're referring to a humerus fracture . If you've been in a cast for three months i would be concerned your elbows getting severely stiff, if your fracture isn't healing at this point you may consider surgery i would speak to your orthopedic surgeon.

Varies: If you have a distal 5th metacarpal fracture, then some variant of a "clam digger" splint or cast is applied.   This involves immobilizing the 4th and 5th finger, and flexing them down an bout 70-99 degrees.  There is no benefit or need to immobilize the thumb, index, or middle finger.

broken twist and arm cast for 11 weeks.  doc recommended a second surgery so i could have full use of my wrist.  now ot says less than 45 degree. ?

Another opinion: It may be beneficial to obtain another opinion from a specialist in the field, an orthopedic surgeon that does a lot of wrist reconstruction or preferably a hand surgeon, as opposed to the opinion from the occupational therapist.

Depends...: A fracture on the end of the finger can be splinted easier than those close to the hand. The closer you get to the hand the higher your chances for a cast. There are various types of fracutres that can occur with a dislocation and some are more severe than others. Some may require simple splinting, and others may require surgery. Can you provide more specifics about your individual situation?
