What is music: therapy for? Depression? Anxiety? I can't think of any disadvantages for music therapy, other than deafness from too loud music.  Advantages include feeling of balance, relaxation, concentration, heightening of the senses, improved memory, improved appreciation for sound.

Music: Attempting to get insurance to pay for alternative treatments is tantamount to attempting to raise the Titanic with tweezers. It's hard enough to get for them to pay for mainstream treatments let alone anything out of the ordinary. If you believe in music therapy, advocate for it!

Music has a way: of enlivening even the sickest and oldest folks.  I've seen it do good things in state hospitals.  I'm not a nurse or music therapist but believe a hospital or nursing facility setting would be an excellent place for such work.  Peace and good health.

No: It impacts us all! you may see different cognitive results but music therapy helps all of us. I was reading how it helped 2 people come out of a coma...And with children it can stimulate neurocircuitry formation. No matter what it is doing...It is beneficial.
