please tell me what is causing these muscle spasms in my finger?

Unusual: There are not really muscles that spasm in the finger.  Tightness or pain in the finger can come from cramping in the hands or forearms from overuse, electrolyte imbalance or neurological problems.  Coldness in the fingers can feel like a cramp, with difficulty of movement, pain, and color changes from constriction of blood vessels.    Perhaps you should be examined and discuss your concerns.

See your PCP for --: Evaluation ; testing. You might need to be seen by a rheumatologist to get diagnosed.

Irritable muscle: May be due to use. Other causes include irritable nerves to that. Muscle use of hand/ fingerare often involved. Age, previous injury also can be factors.

No: There are multiple medications we use for muscle spasticity to varying degrees of help including flexeril, zanaflex, soma, baclofen, Valium, and skelaxin (metaxalone) just to name a few.  Discuss directly with your doctor what would be best for you.

Finger tendon : This could represent a trigger finger or tendon subluxation. Recommend you see a hand spevialidt.

after flexor tendon surgery on 1/21, muscle spasms on 2 of the fingers. afraid of ripping the repair, should i use heatpad to stop the spams?

Call your MD: I assume u had flexor tendon repair following a laceration to your hand( most common). Ice, elevation is important first24-48 hrs; and elevation of the hand really the first week.U likely are in a splint for comfort and to protect repair.If you're spasms continue call your md ... Splint should protect the repair but he may advise a muscle relaxant and to be seen. Best of luck!

these are my symptoms: muscles fasciculations all over my body, occasional muscle spasms in my calves, locking up of my fingers (eg when using scissors), occasional especially nocturnal slight body jerks, pins and needeles. what could be the cause?

: Your symptoms are complex and it is not feasible to be accurate or precise based on the description, but would urge ruling out a neuromuscular disorder.  Include testing for myositis, hyperthyroidism, and even peripheral neuropathy. Hard to say if the fasciculations are due to genetic motor neuron dysfunction.  See a neurologist and get appropriate studies.

Yes: It is common after an acute shoulder dislocation to have swelling and muscle spasms.  Persistent swelling or muscle spasms need to be evaluated.

Accepted Answer

Stress and: Dehydration could be common causes for both of these things. However, i would recommend seeing a physician because there are some more severe neurologic issues that can cause these issues together. Rule out anything scary first, and then pass it off as stress.

Sensitive: This is not likely related to DJD.   You may just be sensitive.  Some people are very sensitive to tactile stimulation  ( "tactile defensiveness")  Of course  I don't know enough of your history.  IT does not sound kike a serious problem m, but if concerned , you should check with your doctor .
