May be applying it not more than twice ; in small amount would be helpful. But check with your OB for the specific cream you intend to use.

: The n medications in creams and lotions applied to the regular skin do not enter the blood stream and as such they cannot bother the fetus.

Muscle verses nerve: Continue to use the rub, heating pad to treat the strain. If the numbness and tingling doesn't improve, the possibility of thoracic radiculopathy should be considered. Thoracic imaging such as MRI can be utilized for further work up

i forgot to ask about menthol in muscle rub. is that harmless as well. reason i ask because i over used a few tubes in one month ( costocondritis)?

Use Indocin (indomethacin): For costochondritis, I would recommend indocin (indomethacin) since the menthol rub obviously does not help you. Ask your doctor for a RX

Most Likely, BUT get: seen by an ER Doc  or see an Eye Doc, as you don't want to even chance something going wrong with your eyes.
The sooner the better. You need to take Care of your eyes.

Ok: Most muscle rubs should be ok, but I would consider a chiropractor an massage therapist with pregnant patient experience . If you have access to an Osteopathic physician that would help.

Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to see about antibiotics). A complaint of "stiff neck" sometimes means serious things. A Dr. should check.
