Small vessel disease: "microangiopathic" means "small vessel disease, " implying that you have some small blood vessel damage due to high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol ("hardening of the arteries").  This is your warning that chronic problems such as those (if you have any of them that you know of) need to be addressed.

NO: Those don't predict a stroke. You can occlude a vertebral (100%) and not have a stroke as the brain receives other blood supply that is connected. Be sure your blood pressure is controlled and keep it there!

From an article from PLOS one a study from 2016 studied subcortical white matter as it relates to aging. The signal is a sign of demylination which we all develop over time.  Conditions can cause this, but we all get it to a degree. It is known as time goes on most people get more so aging factors- inflammation etc a factor.

Confirmation: If you have confirmed MS from other tests like a lumbar puncture and characteristic changes in your CSF, as well as clinical history that supports the diagnosis, then the foci of increased T2 intensity in the white matter may just be the areas in your brain that are being affected by the MS. Keeping track of these and their progression can help determine the progression of your disease.
