Some separately: Best to take calcium or magnesium supplements at different time than other minerals. Taking magnesium or iron wi food helps prevent GI upset. Vit A, D, E, &amp; K are absorbed better wi fatty foods. Vit A is better absorbed when combined wi Vit E. Vit C helps iron absorption. Taking Vit D wi dinner vs breakfast helps absorption. Avoid taking Vit D,E or K at the same time as other fat soluble vits.

No such thing: Your child should not be taking synthetic vitamins, or nay supplements for that matter. He or she is better off with a full diet of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, whole grains, and wild salmon. Spend your money on real foods not hype.

Anytime: It doesn't matter when you take them but as with all medications you should stick to a prescribed routine and don't exceed the recommended dose. For multivitamins  (mvi) that is usually once a day and if its not at the same time each day its ok. Understand that in healthy individuals who eat a balanced diet there is no evidence that mvi's are helpful nor will they make up for an unhealthy diet.

Did you mean Zoloft (sertraline)?: If you are talking abt zoloft, (sertraline) an antideppressant, then there is no problem at all adding a multivitamin.

By eating well: Eat a varied, balanced diet that contains whole grains, lots of fruits, lots of vegetables, and lean meats (including fish). If you eat well, most of your vitamin needs will be met by your food. The exception to this is vitamin d. D is hard to get in sufficient quantity from food, so it's best to take a daily supplement.

Vitamins: The prenatal should be sufficient along with a good diet (no junk/fried food as they are empty calories). If you are on a multivit for some other reason consult your obgyn.

Multivitamins: Vitamins can be very hard on the stomach. If you are getting good nutrition you really do not need these unless your physician is worried about iron levels or malnutrition.  It is okay to stop the vitamins and it is okay to experiment with other brands to see if they are less hard on your tummy.

Yes: A malabsorbtion disorder, vitamin deficient diet, some intestinal parasites or a psychological need to feel you are doing something good for yourself.  The average us diet will provide adequate vitamin intake so that there is no need for supplements.  When there is a specific vitamin deficiency it is due to a disease process and multi-vitamins are not necessary.  Just the vitamin lacking.
