Not normal: Black stools are not normal. While rarely a dietary cause may be found, most often black stools signify blood in the stools, blood that is coming from a little bit higher up in the GI tract. I would see your doctor soon to first check out if it is blood, and if so, find out why the child has this.

i am suffering from stomach problem since i moved to canada 15 days back i am getting diarrhea, narrow stool , mucus in stools, black stools for 2 days now bristol flat stools and stomach pain. am i suffering from colon cancer? i am 23 years old ?

: Those are symptoms of an inflammation bowel disease which could be infectious or new onset inflammatory bowel disease. Colon cancer does not manifest that way and you are too young for this malignancy unless you have family history of intestinal polyposis. For the current condition, you should be evaluated by a doctor, blood and stool tests should be done.

Needs to be checked: From your description it may be a  gastrointestinal infection or colitis etc.We don't know what the black stringy things are.I will advice get it checked by your doctor and may need stool examination for blood,,culture and parasites.And if indicated may need colonoscopy  etc.

Right idea; see GI: You could have Constipation predominant IBS or an inflammatory problem of the bowel causing possible blood and/or mucus to appear. Let a Gastroenterologist (GI) interview  you and assess your risk factors. It sound like a Colonoscopy is a good idea, but that test should be done once it is clear what diagnoses you are trying to rule out (especially at your young age). Good luck.

i'm passing red to black mucus alone + w/stool, but can i relax since 2 gis tested me + agreed it's just ibs? had scopes, ct, lab work, etc. at home fobt this week  was only positive on 1 strip of 3

See below: If ibs = irritable bowel, then that does not explain the stools.  If ibs = inflammatory bowel disease, then yes.  However, if upper and lower GI tract normal, than small bowel needs evaluation.

ive been having dark brown, but not black, stool the past couple weeks with sometimes visible mucus on it. i dont take any iron supplements or pepto bismol. i do suffer from chronic constipation. is this a cause for concern?
