Likely to resolve : I presume he didn't have incontinence before this acute illness. If so it is likely to resolve spontaneously. They probably have used indwelling Foley catheter  when he was in icu; which can cause incontinence for few days after removing catheter.  Other possibilities are urinary retention, infection, prostate enlargement. Call his doctor if doesn't resolve spontaneously.

From where: Where is the discharge from? Eye, nose, ear, mouth, vagina, skin, penis, rectum? Lots of possibilities depending on the origin of the discharge.

Period: It is common for women to have varying degrees of discharge during the month. As long as it is not giving you any discomfort such as itching , burning and it doesn't have a bad smell you shouldn't be concerned. Take care!

Normal: Some women will experience a slight amount of bleeding around ovulation due to hormone fluctuations at that time.  It is normal and does not mean you are more or less fertile.

Many causes: There are many causes of changes in discharge including hormonal/diet changes, overgrowth of  normal vaginal bacterial and fungi, or sexually transmitted diseases.  If you have had unprotected intercourse, an STD test is important and other causes of infection can also be evaluated. if not and if you do not have pain, odor, itching or other discomfort it may just be a change in your hormones.

Depends: I would need much more detailed information. Why do you have the ileostomy? Is your colon still present? Is there a rectal stump? Is it an end or loop ileostomy? Rectal discharge of colored mucous can be normal depending on your current anatomy, ; if a diseased rectum is in place there may be more anal discharge.
